Allow me to introduce myself . . .

I’m Scott Funk. People often call me The Reverse Mortgage Guy. That’s because for the last 6 years I’ve traveled to about every corner of Vermont to meet with people interested in understanding reverse mortgages. But that’s not all I do.
I currently hold memberships in the Richmond Historical Society, the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association, Community of Vermont Elders, AARP and the Champlain Long Term Care Coalition. I’m also on AARP Vermont’s Speakers Bureau.
I was the first reverse mortgage specialist in Vermont to be honored with membership in the Society of Certified Senior Advisors™. I have served on the Governor’s Retaining Older Workforce Planning Workgroup and VPR’s Citizen Advisory Board and as Treasurer of the Vermont Association of Professional Care Providers. I have served as a volunteer fireman, Justice of the Peace, “Vermont Roads Scholar”, Richmond Board of Civil Authority member, Richmond Selectman, Collector of Delinquent Taxes, and a commissioner of the Chittenden Solid Waste District and a delegate to the Governor’s Summit on Poverty: Pathways to Economic Stability.
For the last five years, I’ve actively promoted the concept of Aging in Place throughout Vermont. I write a monthly column featured in various publications throughout the state, give talks on issues important to retirees, and offer accredited continuing education courses to real estate and insurance agents covering topics from reverse mortgages to the ethics of doing business with older clients.
I am an avid photographer and a glimpse at my photographs is available elsewhere on this site.
I’m married to the lovely Kelly Lyn Errion Funk. She is not only the delight of my life, a great gardener, delightful dancer and fabulous cook, she also works closely with me in promoting both my art and my efforts advocating Aging in Place.
For the last 24 years I’ve lived in a Victorian house on the main street of Richmond, Vermont. It is a lovely, quiet village, nestled in the Green Mountains along the Winooski River, halfway between the ski slopes of Stowe and the shores of Lake Champlain.
For nearly 20 years, I’ve been helping people buy and refinance their homes in Vermont. At first, I concentrated on VA Guaranteed and FHA Insured mortgages. Later, my specialty was financing high end second homes.
Six years ago, I decided to specialize in reverse mortgage. That decision has led me into the most pleasurable job I have ever had. I love what I do and I feel it makes a real difference for the better in the lives of the people I meet.
