The energy wheels along the central channel of the body, and in palms, soles, and joints, have enjoyed much popular attention in recent years. Ancient medical and spiritual traditions of India, China and Aboriginal Australians refer to this system and many modern, “alternative” treatment curricula include the Chakhras.
Different traditions, practices and practitioners attribute somewhat different colors, configurations and characteristics to the Chakhras. Whichever particulars you favor or encounter, the commonalities are strong. Energy work, meditation, exercises, color therapy or other approaches to strengthening and balancing the Chakhras, promote our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and integration.

In my own practice and in healing work, I envision these locations and color affiliations for the seven “main” Chakhras:
|
Seventh ~ Crown ~ Violet/White
Sixth ~ Third Eye ~ Indigo
Fifth ~ Throat ~ Turquoise
Fourth ~ Heart ~ Green
Third ~ Solar Plexus ~ Yellow
Second ~ Sacral Chakhra ~ Orange
First ~ Root (base of spine) ~ Red

In my Reiki work, the sacred light of universal love is invoked and felt to flow to me through crown and heart, thence to the recipient through my palms. Very often, in loving work or meditation, patterns of color and light occur to me and sometimes I can endeavor to recreate them in art. The following works are such celebrations.
