This discussion grew out of Scott's newspaper column "The Politics of Retirement". The erosion of government and business commitment to retirement promises has left retirees in unexpected difficulty and threatens the ability of future generations to retire at all. What are our choices and concerns, as individuals and as citizens, to assure our security now and in the future? There is no more universal issue in this country than the long term financial security of its citizens.
